  17.      Approximately 25 million Americans have gallstones, and 500,000 have
  18. their gallbladder removed surgically each year.  A recent Gallup survey
  19. revealed that 54 percent of respondents incorrectly believe that gallstones
  20. can be prevented, and 63 percent were unaware that rapid weight loss diets can
  21. cause gallstones.  The Digestive Disease National Coalition (DDNC) is
  22. launching a public education program to help respond to the need for better
  23. understanding of this disease.  You can obtain a copy of their booklet
  24. entitled "Your Gallstones:  Diagnosis and Treatment" simply by calling their
  25. toll free hot-line 1-800-695-3343.  The booklet is illustrated to help you
  26. understand the many facts, presented in Question and Answer format.  It is a
